NUS – ISS Master Of Technology First Day Class
Finally, the day has arrived. First day of the class for my master course. Late for half hour due to wrong estimation of time. Started with orientation of the course follows by short team session and introduction to the venue of the course. I am in team 7. The team consists of 8 members and the advisor is Robert Firth, a pretty friendly lecturer with interesting background.
Talking about background. the team members are from various industry ranging from banking, education, telecommunication, entertainment manufacturer and IT. It's also a multinational team, which are from China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Singapore.
One thing that i found it a bit cumbersome is that there are several systems that a student need to utilise. At least there are 4 separate systems such as the webmail (using Microsoft Exchange), ISIS - Integrated Student Information System (using Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise), VI - The Virtual Institute (using Plone) and IVLE - Integrated Virtual Learning Environment. 3 of the systems share common accounts. But there is additional account that we have, which is the intranet access login. Hence there is at least three different accounts that we need to maintain. Why don't NUS just utilise Single-Sign-On (SSO) for all the systems?
I don't know how well i am able to juggle between work, family and study. But looking forward to conquer this challenge.
